“Most Photographed Court In The World” — The City Wall Rooftop Court in Croatia

Urban Design and Architecture

The City Wall Rooftop Court in Dubrovnik, Croatia, isn't a basketball court; it's a feat in urban design and architecture. Set inside the old city walls, peering out onto the Adriatic Sea, this court is globally recognized. The court blends in with the ancient architecture of Dubrovnik, clearly displaying that modern sports infrastructure can meet historic landmarks to design a space that is practical and aesthetically appropriate.

When Old Meets New

The court is strikingly beautiful as an above-everything backdrop with its stark design, clean color scheme, and unpretentious markings. It also rests high above the streets below, creating a peaceful atmosphere where anyone—local or visitor—can enjoy a view during the game. The City Wall Rooftop Court symbolizes the amalgamation of tradition and modernity. Architectural Digest, pointed out that setting of the court was able to offer players an “out-of-this-world experience.” More than a basketball court, this is a place that exalts the history of Dubrovnik.

Health

The Heart Benefits of Your Morning Coffee” — European Journal of Preventive Cardiology

Cup of Joe

Your morning cup of coffee might offer more than just a caffeine boost. According to a study published by the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, drinking coffee may actually support heart health. The study, which followed nearly 450,000 participants over 12 years, found that those who consumed two to three cups of coffee daily had a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, and decreased chances of premature death compared to non-coffee drinkers.

The Research

The research highlights a significant correlation between moderate coffee consumption and reduced risks of cardiovascular issues, including heart disease and stroke. Interestingly, the study observed that those who drank four to five cups daily experienced the lowest risk of irregular heartbeats. The benefits were consistent across all types of coffee, though decaffeinated coffee did not show the same association with reduced irregular heartbeat risks. This suggests that the protective effects might be related to specific compounds found in caffeinated coffee.

Why Coffee?

One of the possible explanations for coffee's heart health benefits is its rich content of polyphenols. These natural compounds are known for their antioxidant properties, which help to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation—two key factors in the development of cardiovascular disease. While the exact mechanisms remain unproven, the evidence suggests that your daily coffee habit might be contributing to a healthier heart.

Growth

“Unstoppable” - Siggi Wilzig

A Survivor

Born into a German-Jewish family, Wilzig faced unimaginable horrors in the Holocaust, managing to survive Auschwitz and other concentration camps. But he didn't stop at surviving; it was simply the beginning of an incredible success story that would later rank him among the titans of American industry.

Overcoming Adversity:

Wilzig's miraculous journey began as a Holocaust survivor and ended as a self-made billionaire. When he emigrated to the United States with only a few dollars, he began the journey of establishing a new life. His early days were marked by perseverance and an unwavering belief in the American Dream. Wilzig began his career as a door-to-door salesman, and worked his way to CEO positions of two publicly traded companies, The Wilshire Oil Company and Trust Company of New Jersey.

Lessons in Growth:

Success in the life of Wilzig is not merely financial, but through will, wit, and determination to live. He felt that after the horrors he experienced in the Holocaust, getting through ups and downs that come along with business was easy. He learned from his experience that 'nothing cannot be turned into something' through the right mindset.

Legacy of Leadership:

Besides all these stupendous professional successes, Wilzig had a legacy of leadership and caring for others. He was indefatigable in his work with Holocaust education, ensuring those experiences would not fade. Wilzig's story, from a concentration camp survivor to a business mogul, is a real epitome of resilience, when you defeat the sort of hardships he has, all other tasks become frivolous.

His life inspires us all to stare down our challenges head on, knowing that growth is not just possible — it's inevitable when driven by perseverance and purpose.
