The design of the BMW CE04 is certainly something new. It exhibits a slim low body, and a flat seat, all evoking very modern and minimalistic features. These floating elements, like the side panels and the front wheel cover, bring a sense of lightness and agility to a very unique look.

Another key innovation of the CE04 is its state-of-the-art lighting. It's display features full LED equipment and a unique U-shaped daytime running light. This brings great visibility and a futuristic look. The rear lights are integrated into the floating side panels to further create a modern look.

“The Most Dangerous Things are Those We Cannot See” — The Danger of Microplastics

Introduction

Microplastics are small plastic particles with a diameter of 5 mm and have a widespread distribution in the environment, leading to significant human health risks. In recent studies, microplastics have been found to infiltrate human tissues in the lungs, liver, and bloodstream. Microplastics enter through inhalation, ingesting, or through dermal contact.

Inflammation and Cellular Damage

Microplastics can induce inflammation in humans and damage cellular tissues. Inside our body, they can create an immune response, which in the long run can help aid a chronic inflammatory response. Over time this can lead to several health issues, which include but is not limited to, cardiovascular diseases and certain types of cancer.

Chemical Contaminants

Microplastics often contain or attract harmful chemical contaminants, for example, pesticides, heavy metals, and Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). These chemicals from the plastic particles accumulate in human tissues and can disrupt endocrine function, elevating the risks of hormone-related disorders and cancers.

Respiratory System

When inhaled into the body, airborne microplastics may result in various diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPDs), asthma, and inflammation of the lungs. The particles are tiny, but deposited in the lung tissues, causing irritation and reducing respiration functionalities.

Gastrointestinal Tract

Ingested microplastics may result in an accumulation inside the gastrointestinal tract and compromise gut health. They can modify gut microbiota and are additionally contribute towards inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

Mitigation Strategies

The strategies in place to minimize the impact of microplastics include reducing plastic consumption, and including biodegradable or metal alternatives. Public health efforts further require regulatory policies that limit microplastic pollution in a bid to safeguard human health.
